Any other great discussion boards?

Thread Starter

Hi. I am wondering if anyone has recommendations for other great discussion boards besides this one (Mothering). I enjoy reading the threads about parenting, pregnancy and schooling, but I am NOT a "natural" mother. I clearly don't belong here, but cannot find another intelligent board. Me: My son attends public school & is circumcised, I fully vaccinate my child, embrace traditional healthcare & medical science, do not plan to encapsulate my placenta once our second child is born, am against unassisted childbirth & skeptical about the safety of some homebirths, believe that only 4-6 months are necessary for the immunological benefits of breastfeeding, etc... Also, I am very frustrated by all of the medical misinformation found on these boards.

I'm asking on this thread b/c working/student parents are obviously intelligent (though this may be futile since most of you may not have time for other discussion boards....).

I would even appreciate advice from a moderator...

I am kinda crunchy-cloth diaper, cosleep and BF past a year but am with you on the other stuff. I would love to know any other boards out there, too!

I wouldn't necessarily rule yourself out of here. Intelligent boards are hard to find!

I work full-time outside of the home, fully vaccinate my child and happily use the public schools. This panty-hose-suit-wearing corporate hack has NEVER been mistaken for a hippy. I do think there is room for everyone. But I'm not necessarily the argumentative type so I don't get into debates about things. I figure nothing will suit me perfectly but I do totally appreciate intelligent commentary when available!

Oh, I don't know that you don't belong here!  I doubt you'll agree with everything on any board really, right?  I sometimes feel like an outsider - my DS goes to daycare, I vaccinate, I stopped breastfeeding at 6 months, we never co-slept because it doesn't work for us, we use disposable diapers, I had a c-section and am quite pleased with that....you see where I am going.  But I like the openness and acceptance of these forums.  And I still feel that I lean more toward natural parenting.  I will admit that I was relieved to find this particular part of the forum for parents that work out of the home.

I'd definitely be interested in hearing of other options though.  I do love learning through other people's experiences.  When I was pregnant, I participated in babyfit.com quite a bit.  I am a vegetarian so I came upon that site because I wanted to track my food intake and they make it really easy.  The forums were not why I went there.  But I do like the due date clubs on that site.  I did find that the women were largely younger than me though.

My two favorite message boards for moms are Babycenter and Cafemom.
