Ugh, crazy old midwife office!

I switched to a new office at 37 weeks, and made a request to my old office to get medical records before Christmas. Today they tell my current office they can't get them until NEXT Friday when the overseeing OB reviews and signs off on it. That will be 3 DAYS before my due date. Crazy!! At least my current office is okay and telling me not to worry and that women have been having babies without medical records for a long timesmile.gif I know they are not MY records, but 3 weeks to get them transferred in a situation that is time-dependent? Every other time I switch a doctor, the office usually gets them the next day.

Thankfully I have a feeling I am going to be a few days late.

How frustrating, it sure does sound like they are "punishing" you.  My old OB with my daughter did that.  I left when I was pregnant to have a home birth, and they wouldn't let me come back postpartum even for paps and such because they didn't want to be held liable for anything that happened in my home birth....?  I had an infection afterward and he reluctantly consulted over the phone because he was on call in the ER, and agreed to see me once for follow up, but his office staff was just so nasty to me I chose to go to an OB my midwife used frequently.

Glad your new midwife is so sensible and understanding.

That's crazy, it shouldn't take that long. Sounds like they are kind of doing it on purpose. I don't think my old ob's office EVER got my records over to my new ob. My new one didn't seem to care so I didn't worry about it.

I believe they are, because that is just crazy - 3 weeks, and they just told us today, almost 2 weeks after we requested them, so something is up or else they would have told us when we requested it. Oh yeah, the request was "lost" for the first few days, until I called them and made them wait on the phone while it was being faxed over from my current office.

My current office was able to get my last set of labwork, but the only thing I am concerned about is all the testing I had in the beginning for STDs because I want to refuse the eye drops for the baby. I have a feeling I won't be able to do that without proof I am negative? I guess they could do it all again if need be.

definitely sounds like a punishment

When I switched from my OB to my current midwife care they had my records there within the week.
