Gestational sac but no yolk sac or fetal pole

I am 7w1d but at my u/s today they only saw a gestational sac (measuring 6 weeks) but no yolk sac or fetal pole.  My OB scheduled a followup u/s next week since my dates might be off, but I know they aren't (we didn't have sex a week after I believe we conceived so it wouldn't be possible to be a week behind).  I'm guessing there is no hope but wondering if anyone had a similar scenario that ended well?

There is always hope!  I had an u/s at 6w3d and they saw an empty sac that was measuring small.  Told us it was pretty dire, and we only had a 10% chance.  (We did IVF so we were certain on the dates.)  We went through the whole grieving process.  Then, at 7w2d, everything looked totally fine.  Measuring on time with a nice heartbeat!  So, the followup ultrasound should feel much more definitive...

Best of luck to you Mamas!!  I hope for the best for you!!

Maurine, that gives me hope. Thank you. I keep going back and forth between not wanting to have any hope and just expecting the worst so I'm not disappointed next week and trying to find reasons to hope.

I've been reading that sometimes having a tilted/retroverted uterus can make it hard to find things in early u/s. I have a tilted uterus so I'm hoping maybe they just couldn't see the baby because of that. I also remind myself of my ds's 20 week ultrasound. They couldn't find the kidneys and I left, so upset thinking that my baby had no kidneys (I mean, how can you just not see any kidneys?!?) but when we returned a week later, an OB did it and was like, "the kidneys are right here. I don't know why they couldn't find them." So I'm hoping the case is similar here.  Just praying lots and lots and lots.
