How do you test Blood Sugar when you don't eat "meals"?

I've opted to screen my own blood sugar at home for a few days instead of doing the GTT (I am approximate 30 weeks pregnant now).

I've done this the other few pregnancies as well, but this time it's harder because I am not eating true meals and therefore don't know when to test....I snack and munch all day long, because I feel better that way. Of course, that affects my readings because there's always something going into my body.

Any ideas on when to test, then? There is no definite two-hour postprandial mark. And what the acceptable levels would be for this kind of testing?

Hmmmm.

You could do your fasting BG in the morning before you eat anything.

Can you go 1 hour without eating? I usually test after one hour; if my BG isn't back down after 1 hour I know something I ate wasn't a good choice.

I hope that helps! wink1.gif
