Help us - flopping fish in family bed! UPDATE

Hi-
I'm looking for advice, reassurance, btdt stories, ect. about our mobile babe in bed. DD is 10.5 months old and is all over the place in bed. She sits up in the middle of her sleep and flops herself back down really suddenly and hard. Most times, especially when DH isnt in bed yet, she is just looking to get comfy and resettles by herself after several flops around the bed. However, when we are all in bed, she flops backwards into one of us and wakes herself (and us) up with a painful cracking of heads... Which leads back into the nursing to resettle every hour routine that is taking its toll.

I've tried putting her back in the sidecar crib but she wakes herself up slamming into the rails. DH can sleep in the other room but not every night and he and I don't need any further disconnection right now! I'm considering maybe putting her in the pack and play so she has padded walls to run into...? ;-p I've considered trying a sleep sack to limit her mobility but she used to get too hot in them.

She still nurses down for naps and night wakings but now the wakings are becoming too frequent to handle with her flopping around...

Developmentally, she's an avid crawler, climber and creeper. She's not standing without holding onto something yet and has cut her two bottom teeth. She eats maybe an ounce of spoon fed solids and lots of little nibbles of food ala BLW.

Any brilliant ideas? Or do babies this age just make crappy bed mates and I have to suck it up for now?! I know sleep patterns are not linear but I feel this is onenof many reasons why she's nursing so much more at night.

Thanks in advance!!

For anyone who's interested...

Put dd in a sleepsack and in the sidecar - first night she slept a 3 hour stretch and last night a 5 hour stretch. It's been months since she has slept 5 hours!

And once I bring her into the big bed, no more floppy fish!!! Let's hope this isn't a fluke but my gut says that she was having trouble turning her body off at night with all the new motor activity she's been learning.

My almost 10 mo old ds does this. He almost knocked me out the other night! I think for us it's a combo of his new mobility (he took 5 steps unassisted the other day) and teething, plus digestive issues. I will try your suggestions, thanks so much for sharing and happy new year xxx

Yeah, I hadn't really considered digestive issues until last night but I'm sure that's in the mix too as she just recently started regularly eating solids at dinner.

Happy new year to you too! xx
