I signed up the 10th. 10th and 11th I did amazing! All dishes were done, counters wiped, table cleaned off, everything done. 12th did not. I have bell's palsy and am seeing a chiro to help heal it faster. We had intense treatment that day and I was wiped so I didn't get it done. 13th was a laziness fail. Tonight all done!

Jan. 3. dishes.gif

Jan. 4. bag.gif I was a bad girl last night and didn't get this new chore done. No real excuse, I could say that I spent a little more time nursing my son to sleep and I was tired after and wanted to take a bath, which is true, but I still could have done the dishes. I didn't even get the pots done that had been soaking!

Jan. 5. dishes.gif It's only the middle of the day now, so I have time to make more dishes to be washed, but I'm hopeful that they will ALL get done and nothing will be left to soak over night. I'm posting this now so I don't have to come back and hang my head in shame.

Jan. 6. dishes.gif I got them all done, but wasn't able to come on before bed last night.

Jan. 7. dishes.gif Got them ALL done again tonight!!!

Jan.8. dishes.gif Another night when ALL the dishes are done!

Jan. 9. bag.gif I was to tired and we went to bed early.

Jan. 10. bag.gif Again tonight the dishes will sit. I spent the day out with a friend and was so tired I didn't get a chance to do the ones from last night even though there wasn't much. I'm super exhausted right now and will wash my blender before bed, but that's all I have energy for. I'll have to do better tomorrow. I did do some other organizing tonight though. so at least that's something.

Jan 11-15th dishes.gif

Not bad at all! Only 3 of these bag.gif so far this month. I wasn't going to do the dishes tonight though. I was tired so was only going to do the blender, but I got them all done with exception of a casserole dish that's soaking and my small plate I had my snack on just now and the knife I used to make it. This is ok though. I'm so happy it's going well for me and I was thinking about next months challenge. I can't wait to add that one.

Day 14

sneeze.gifsneeze.gifsneeze.gif
I'm still sick. I ran a bunch of errands and did some work today and I feel wiped out (nevermind that I can't stop sneezing either)
DH is holding down the fort a little but I will have to catch up tomorrow. I also have a bunch of clutter that needs to be dealt with.

This is me and I am officially ditching this attempt.  I think I bit off too much for the goal.  Instead, I am working on making myself one of those household binders.  I will catch up with you all next month to try to improve.

Housekeeping struggles:

UGH. . . I read about myself in so many of the previous posts.  I know I am late for joining, but this really ties in with some of my new year's resolutions.  I find that I feel unsettled if things aren't taken care of, but we really get busy and interrupted frequently throughout the day so things slip by and get piled up (esp with dishes and paperwork).

GOAL for the month:  Have the main area (kitchen/living/dining) tidy before bed.  That way I can start the day feeling on top of things.  The biggest part of this will be the kitchen, but the others have to be there as well.  I did start this on the first so I will just keep adding to this post.

this was the worst day of sickness, but I managed to scrape up enough energy to do some cleaning

Task 1 - toy pickup partners.gif

DH used the furminator brush on the explosively shedding border collie so that should cut down on dog hair everywhere. faint.gif

I haven't updated for a few days, and I'm not sure I'm going to remember far enough back, but in general, I haven't been doing well.  We had a few appointments last week, and that threw me off.  The weekend went well, though, because there is less to do in the morning, lol.

Jan 19 -- started late, but managed more exercise than usual.  Finished most of the stuff on my morning routine list.

I haven't updated for a few days.  I didn't do well over the weekend and then my dh had yesterday off so I didn't do much except clean up the kitchen.  Right now, it looks like a toy/clutter bomb went off in my house, it's really bad.  I have a lo sick so I don't know how much I will get accomplished today.  And, we are going to try and get back into homeschooling this week.

To refresh my memory of my goals:

1: Living room picked up before dh gets home

2: Clean kitchen with a shiny sink before bed.

Hi there,

I'm not an everyday poster but things have been going well. I haven't taken out the garbage/compost/recycling every day but the garbage can hasn't been close to overflowing and the recycling is being sorted in the garage every few days, once the bin under the sink fills up (sometimes sooner). Compost is going out regularly but would still like to try for everyday. We often use cereal or cracker boxes for wet compost and I don't like to put those out until they're full, so they sometimes sit for a bit.

Yesterday we put up a new rack inside one cupboard door under the sink for the hand towels and wash cloths -- and today we put up a bag holder (createsomespace.com) which I'm hoping will work for paper lunch bags for compost while keeping it off the counter. Don't really want to add more paper to the compost bin but definitely don't want to be washing out bowls/buckets all the time (our city picks up the compost once every two weeks). I'm saving the boxboard boxes as well to use for more wet things that will  soak through a paper bag too quickly.

All in all, I think I'm doing well and I can at least notice a difference in how things look or how I feel about the general state of the kitchen. Not sure what I'll ad for February (maybe to fold and put away any load of laundry started that day?). Will have some time to think that one through before deciding.

I just saw this thread, and it's kinda late for me to join in. Can we start one for February?

I'm back here to wrap up - even though I missed updating the last few days. Overall this challenge succeeded in teaching DH and I new habits. The dining room table is clear most nights now and certainly isn't accumulating clutter like it used to and DS's toys get picked up regularly. Thank you OP for starting this thread, it was great help for me.
I will start a new challenge thread for february. I got me a new steam mop and am dying to use it. orngbiggrin.gif
