Water

Do you filter your water?  Drink tap?  Why or why not?

If you have a filter what kind is it?

I buy spring water right now. We were using a filter for our city water but it doesn't remove fluoride so we decided to go with spring water. We do use a filter on our shower, though to reduce chlorine exposure. I feel like clean spring water is ideal because of the minerals. There is a great website for finding springs here:

I recently saw a link to this site on the Mercola site. There is one in my area that is free. Should this water be filtered? Is the city or whatever required to do some sort of testing on it? We are looking into replacing our current faucet water filter (PUR) with something better.

I was looking into the Aquasana one. And mercola's site has one, but I don't know... need to research more. And we only have limited funds for this, so I may have to settle for something that wouldn't be my best choice.

Watching this thread for ideas.

We have well water that is chlorinated (too many coloform {sp?} bacteria).  We have both a Brita and a Pur pitcher.  I like the Pur better, it filters more.  Someday, if we still have well water (we rent here) I'd love a fancy one.

It all depends on the spring. The one I go to is at a former brewery and comes from a vending machine so it is tested and regulated by the city. There is another free one in our area that is at a state or county park and it is tested.

The filter I have used Aquasana and I was happy with it except for the fluoride thing, especially for the price. The other option I wish I looked at was the Berkey filter, although as far as I can tell, ANY filter for fluoride uses aluminum medium and thus you MUST be very on top of changing the filter.
