natural remedies for tinea versicolour

My husband and I both have it on and off throughout the year and since we co-sleep, bathe and pretty much do everything with DS he also is getting some pretty terrible patches of it on his back and bum.  Does anyone have any home remedies you have tried and had success with?  How long did it take for them to work?

I have used freshly crushed garlic to treat tinea pedis.  It worked really well (2 weeks to cure or so?) but is strong - I wouldn't use it on baby skin myself.
