Need Book Recc's for my husband

Our kids range from pre-t een to toddler, with a few in between. DH tends to anger easily, and our marriage has reached the point where I will surely leave with the children early on in 2011 if he doesn't get a grip on his temper. He has expressed a desire to change his parenting, and he wants some books to help make the mental shift. We have a few parenting books around here but I'm looking for books that will effectively assist him in parenting (ie: being the authoritative voice that the children sometimes need) without being a complete jerk. I don't know... gentle parenting has always come naturally to me, so none of my personal philosophies hold water for him. When I pose different strategies/scenarios, he says that sounds like "pansy parenting".

Any strong male influential voices out there that you think may help? Thanks, all suggestions considered and appreciated.

Is your husband typically an angry person or is it only when dealing with the children?

He's Mr. Wonderful to the world at large. It's me and the kids that get Mr. Jerk.

There is probably no book that can help this guy anyways. But I thought I'd ask.

Do you and the children give him the respect that he deserves in the home or does he receive constant critizism for how he does things in the home?  Is his opinion valued?  I only ask because this was an issue in my marriage due to my treatment of my husband. My dh was very frustrated with my constant critizism and berating of his thoughts.  Counceling helped us tremendously.  I would highley suggest counceling to seek some common ground if both partners are willing.
