Ouuuuuch! Carpal tunnel and sore hands/wrists at 36 weeks

I've had some issues in the past few weeks with my hands/arms falling asleep during the night, causing me to wake up frequently, shake my arms out then try to get back to sleep. In the past few days I've had a lot more swelling in my hands and LOTS of pain in my hands and wrists. This morning I tried to cut a piece off my breakfast burrito and I almost couldn't do it - the pain was so sharp. I have my next OB appointment on Wednesday, any ideas on how to ease the pain or lessen the pressure in my hands? Seems like every bizarre symptom I have will "go away when the baby comes" but it would be nice to have a little relief now, too ;)

I had the exact same thing while I was pregnant with my DD. The dr had recommended either  buying the braces made for carpal tunnel or using the wrist braces that you usually use for roller blading....I didn't have any and didn't want to buy the other ones just for a few weeks.....but it did go away when she came...hang in there it's almost overwinky.gif

I had this when I was pg with DD.  I got a lot of relief sleeping with the braces on.  I would start there!

I had this too. Not fun, especially since my job required a lot of typing. Hard to type when your fingers won't work! I could barely hold a pen by the end. Thankfully, it went away a few weeks after he was born. I wrapped my wrists with ace bandages every once in awhile. And I just made sure my hands were not tucked under me or my pillow when I went to sleep and that helped the pain while sleeping.

I've had it really bad since 20 weeks. The braces at night really, really help. I was waking up 5-7 times a night before I got them. I heard it can take up to 6 weeks after birth to fully go away, ugh. It's odd for me because I never had it with my other 3 pregnancies.

I had that for most of my third trimester for DS.  I used braces and Arnica Gel.  As soon as he came it left!

wrist braces haven't helped me much but ice relieves the pain and reduces the tingling/numbness. when i go to the bathroom in the middle of the night i run the cold water over my hands for a minute or two and it helps. i also try and use ice packs on my hands/wrists before bed.
