Good music for children - Page 2

I have become a kids music enthusiast...I can't really stand most of the kids stuff for too long.  I can tolerate Raffi, the Wiggles etc for a short time.  I really like the Putamayo kids cd series...it is World music and my favorites have been Reggae Playground, Picnic Playground (all about food from around the world), Hawaiian Playground - they are all awesome.  We also really love Lisa Loeb's 'Camp Lisa' filled with energetic, silly campfire favorites, and I really like Elizabeth Mitchell's 'You are my Sunshine' and 'You are my little bird'.  Oh ,and a Canadian cd that I found is called Pied Pumpkin 'Pumpkids'...it is really great too - West Coast feel.  I take lots of cds out of our library to try them out first before deciding if I will add it to our collection.  Good luck...

Also, Catch the Moon with Lisa Loeb.

It's A Big World is fun.

All of the Putumayo Playground CD's are fabulous.  DD especially enjoys Picnic Playground.

Here Come the ABCs  & Here Come The 123s   from They Might Be Giants are good too.

My DD also LOVES Johnny Cash!  ROTFLMAO.gif

I grew up listening to Pete Seeger's kids records, and therefore, so have my kids. The man is a national treasure and all kids should know his terrific music.

We also love Dan Zanes "Houseparty Time" and his "Songs of the Sea."

We also love Dan Zanes. Elizabeth Mitchell and Raffi and a lot of others mentioned.  One group not mentioned that we love is The Funky Mamas from Guelph, Ontario, Canada.

Ooo, good thread. Baby loves Marley, Mamas and the Papas, this little gal named Ingrid Michaelson is pretty cute, Nellie McKay. She also seems to get really happy with any instrumental music. We love bluegrass in this house so I think she does too.
