Got some more closets cleaned out. Now just the bathroom closet and deep cleaning my kids' room. I need to get all the winter decorations down too then I'll be done with purging and cleaning and it's on to organizing and buying clothes. 

Updating again. Got the bathroom closet cleaned out today. What a mess!! I had to laugh at the big stockpile of pads I had in there. I'll need them eventually but I didn't expect to get pg so I had plenty on hand. We live the deep south and we've had snow and ice on the ground for days and I'm not going anywhere in this mess. These conditions make it very easy to clean!! We sold our recliners today too! I'm so glad to have them out of the living room! Now I've got to get some things listed on craigslist (homeschool and scrapbooking stuff). Think I'll tackle the kids' room and homeschool bookshelves tomorrow. Looks like my goal of having the cleaning/purging done by the end of January is in sight!

LOL!! Isn't it funny, I am a little superstitious about  stocking up on pads or tampons now. I did that in 2008 and then found out I was pg. I got my cycle back about 8 months pp but didn't want to use tampons so I used pads. I bought small packages for months then finally bought the big box and found out I was pg again!! It happened to a friend of mine too. I just gave away all my tampons, since I never did use them after DS was born. This time I am going to use cloth pads, I'm looking forward to that.

I also recommend a menstrual cup. I find those way more comfortable than tampons and of course they are reusable and super easy to take care of and last for up to "10 years."

I'm adding my to-do list so I'll hopefully get it done (I'm notorious for starting things but never following through).

• make birth plan
• review birth plan with doula and MWs
• arrange child care for DS and DD for labour and the early days
• prepare labour bag
• prepare for home birth
• meet with Doula
• organize storage locker
• organize & throughly clean master bedroom, kids' room, office, bathroom, kitchen, living room, dining room and all closets
• purge unwanted and unnecessary stuff
• organize kids toys
• sort out all baby and kid clothes by size and gender
• decide what baby/kid clothing to keep or get rid of
• KEEP HOUSE CLEAN (a huge challenge especially since I'm the only one who actually cleans)
• make a couple of freezer meals for the postpartum period
• get baby bassinet, wrap, baby clothes and bouncy chair from my parents' place
• buy infant car seat
• convince DH to get large vehicle (since we can't fit all 3 in our car)
• get nursing bras

plus the other non-baby but just as important stuff like registering DS for school and other activities.

I've thought about the Diva cup or similar a lot. I'm going to wait a little while, because honestly after DS was born I never used tampons, not once. I didn't like the idea of putting anything inside me. I know that is an odd thing to say and I have no idea why I feel that way. I am open to the idea of the cup though.

I was going to order a diva cup when I finally got my period back, 25 months after having DS, but then I got pregnant again that first cycle. I definitely like the idea of a diva cup more than tampons.

Just my 2 cents on the Diva Cup.... I got one a couple years ago and did not like it.  I thought it would be a great idea but I found it very uncomfortable to wear, even painful sometimes.  And I could feel the weight of it in there when it filled up a little (sorry for the TMI) which was really weird.  I still have it hanging around somewhere b/c I really love the idea of it, but it just didn't work for me.

For some reason I can't wear tampons or a cup, etc. It's pads for me. I might try cloth pads at some point. Any suggestions? I have some cloth panty liners and I don't really like them. They don't stay in place and don't absorb well. I just don't like them.

I cleaned the kids' room today which is always fun. They have a full sized bunk bed and it's really hard to get under to pull toys out, etc. I'm hoping they'll keep it a little cleaner but I usually have to deep clean it once a month. I didn't get to anything else on my long term to-do list today but I was able to finally get out of the house and went to the gym, bank and grocery store. We're going to take decorations down this weekend. I'm also going to buy new rugs, Exciting, I know!

I didn't like the Diva cup either, although tampons never bothered me.  However, ever since I tried Lunapads, I've been a convert.  Love the liner system they use.  My favorite is the lunapanties though.  They have less bulk than the pads since there's no need for wrapping anything around and they're really comfortable.

No update to my list because I have still done nothing.

I'll just add that I love the Diva Cup - been using one for about 7 years now.  I do think they have a pretty long learning curve even if you end up really liking using one so give it some time if you decide to try.

I was knocking stuff out left and right today! We got all the Christmas decorations down, I cleaned off our bookshelves, cleaned the laundry room, we hung pictures and I've been working on my scrapbooks. I'm soooo tired now though! We're going tomorrow to get curtains and hopefully find a new cushion for my glider. I got new bathroom and bedroom rugs yesterday. DH is outside working on refinishing our cedar chest too. :) He's caught the bug!! I guess I need to start thinking about what I need for the baby now.

Everything on my list is completely done, except getting the dresser and the clothes in it. But, we. Have been looking non-stop for the oast several days for a dresser. I'd just rather buy one at a thrift store, even if its not exactly the style I would have chosen new, but everything I've found so far is either in such bad shape, musty, or an outrageous price...I'm looking forward to getting it done, though.

There isn't anything on my list until March. I have pretty much done everything I can do before then complete. So March is:

Wash all baby clothes, diapers, sheets and towels (for the birth).

Have belly casting, painting, and photos done ( I have already contacted people to make the appointments).

Start maid service for every two weeks (in the process of getting estimate).

Gather last few things from the store that I need for the birth: 2 garden hoses, faucet adapter, batteries for water pump, massage oil.

Make a list of emergency phone numbers to post by the phone.

Install car seat.

We cosleep so there is no baby's room to get ready. I did a purge of the house right after Christmas so the dresser is already empty for the clothes. When I did the purge I went through my older kids things and pulled out all the baby stuff I had in storage. I wanted to get a lot done early because I plan on working up until I deliver and I have a lot going on at work in the next few months (March is going to be slammed). So hopefully a short list will reduce my stress level.

Just checked another thing off - ordered 24 sunbaby 4.0s! They just released new prints and I didn't want to miss out since they are only doing one run of each print, and not planning on repeating them. I already missed out on the cute little robots they had last month. :( But I'm going to sniff around a couple different FSOTs and try to pick one up.

that robot print was very cute, if i was having a ds, i would be searching for it as well. I know i need to order some more diapers so i can check that off the list, but I don't need a whole bunch so i was waiting for them to get to ebay so i can pick up some of the new prints, (i have 2 of the sunbaby's). I finally cleaned out the baby's room this weekend - all DH has to do is bring the file cabinet and some other stuff downstairs.  Next up is pick out a paint color and paint the room.  That should happen in the next 2 weeks hopefully.

Have you thought about finding a sunbaby co-op? Or even organizing one yourself. Organizing is the way to go I think. You find a couple people who only want a couple diapers each, they paypal you the money for the diapers plus shipping, and I know some people charge a small organizing fee, like $1 or so. You order the dipes and the shipping to you is free, so it's a win-win. You just have to take orders, collect money and mail them out again. I jumped in on a sunbaby co-op that a friend organized, and ordered two, just so I could see the diapers and find out how they washed up.
