purines in bone broth?

We eat/drink bone broth every day. A friend of mine pointed out that bone broth is high in purines, which may cause gout.

Can anyone comment on this?

I think you'll find that gout is one of the "diseases of Western civilization".  there is a youtube clip somewhere (Gary Taubes perhaps?) who talks about it.  fructose is a big feeder into the biochemical pathway for uric acid production via the hexose monophosphate shunt.  I suspect if you are eating lots of refined grains, drinking fruit juices and sodas, you're setting yourself up for gout more than you are by drinking bone broth.  berries, however, are the fruit exception as they all help to break the uric acid production cycle.

i also seem to remember fructose as being the main cause. i think i read about it on mercola.com.
