We eat/drink bone broth every day. A friend of mine pointed out that bone broth is high in purines, which may cause gout.

I think you'll find that gout is one of the "diseases of Western civilization". Â there is a youtube clip somewhere (Gary Taubes perhaps?) who talks about it. Â fructose is a big feeder into the biochemical pathway for uric acid production via the hexose monophosphate shunt. Â I suspect if you are eating lots of refined grains, drinking fruit juices and sodas, you're setting yourself up for gout more than you are by drinking bone broth. Â berries, however, are the fruit exception as they all help to break the uric acid production cycle.
