Who do I call to fix...

a leaky balcony? It's leaking through the hallway ceiling underneath. (Yes, it's those record-breaking, torrential California rains.)

I was thinking a roofer, but it's not a roof -- it's where the balcony floor connects to the house. Any suggestions?

DH says to start by calling a "new construction" roofer (not the guys who replace a roof), framer, or general contractor.  It's a flashing issue. Could be more of or a different issue than that but start with the obvious issue and go from there.

Thank you! Now if only I could figure out how to find a reputable contractor. I will email my local friends to see if anyone has a recommendation. Tell your DH I appreciate the info.

you might find a recommendation to a reuptable contractor by asking at an independent building supply business.  (not a chain big box store)

Friends are my first choice for these sorts of things but I like to back it up with talking to a local supplier because they do business with these guys all the time.
