Truefit forward facing installation question

I'm out of town and don't have my installation manual and cannot for the life of me find it online...I have a TrueFit in a 2010 Mazda. To install it forward facing, do I use the top anchor and the seatbelt, or the top anchor and the Latch system? The latches don't seem to be long enough to reach into the seat.

Hi Mama

I've never installed TF in a Mazda (so I'm not sure if your question is specific to the car or a general usage ?). In finding the LATCH strap short, I assume you have extended it as far as it will go?

Either the seat belt or LATCH (if it can indeed be made long enough) would be appropriate to use with your tether anchor.

Are you trying to install forward-facing with the LATCH belt in the rear-facing belt path?  Don't do that. :)  Either LATCH belt or vehicle belt (plus top tether) is fine, but make sure it's in the right belt path.

yeah i think maybe you are trying the use the rear facing belt path. the ff belt path is in the seat and you can find it by pulling the back cushion (where the little ones back will be) open (it has velcro).

Also, the True Fit manual is available online on the Learning curve website.

Click on the link, and then beside the photo of the seat in blue writing it says "Instructions". Click on that and it will open up the online manual in another window. HTH.

Thanks mamas. I was trying to use the rear facing latch path. I wound up installing it with the top tether and the seat belt. I'll probably go back and reinstall it with the latch and the tether.

If it's installed well with a seat belt, there's no need to switch to LATCH. :) Either is acceptable, and personally I like seat belt better much of the time since seat belts are designed to hold much more weight than LATCH (which is why LATCH has a weight limit---either 40lbs or 48lbs depending on your vehicle)
