Does ANYONE know of a ob/gyn or midwife willing to do a VBA2C in Central/Augusta Maine? I went to MMC & Mercy but no luck.

I live in Auburn and go to CMMC. My OB doesn't want to do a VBA1C, but I am going to work on her. Good luck!

There are many doctors at least willing to try a VBAC and it's been 18 months since the c-section. Just not a VBA2C.

You might want to check this out for hospitals.

maybe search on midwifes of maine? i was surprised to find one near me.

re: mainecare I have found out that mainecare only covers certified midwifes that work through a hospital. i know MCM in Ellsworth has midwives in their L&D and they would be paid but not a midwife at a homebirth.

are you looking for a hospital birth or a home birth?  a friend of mine just attempted a VBA2C with Dr. Hodsdon of Generations/Intermed at MMC.  she ended up with a CBAC, but was pleased with her experience.  that said, before I decided to go with Open Circle, I called Dr. Hodsdon and before I got to even see her, I had a slight complication (some very very faint, tan spotting) and she gave me a VERY hard time when I refused Rhogam.

I'm planning a VBAC (any day now... tap, tap, tap) with Open Circle.  when I asked them about VBAMC, they basically said (which they also said about breech) that they 'don't' do them, but with a well educated family, they may consider it.  I don't know about the other homebirth midwives around, but it can't hurt to call and ask.

you won't have any luck with any CNMs, they aren't allowed to attend VBACs at all, period.  you'll either have to have a homebirth with a CM or hospital birth with an OB.

oops, just realized you are looking for a MaineCare provider.  homebirth midwives don't accept MaineCare, but may be willing to work with you on a payment plan.  I'm pretty sure Generations/Intermed accepts MaineCare.

I'm trying out Blue Hill Women's Health Care next week. That's almost 2 hours from me. A doula in the Augusta area told me that I could do it. The difficult part will be getting my medical records from two different hospitals from two different states.

I'm trying everything hospital or no hospital to have a VBA2C.

I know that Florida insurance pays for homebirths so I may do that. Source: VBAC.com

I found out that Clear Light Midwifery accepts MaineCare and is supportive of VBACs. It's in Old Town, Maine.

i was told that there's a practice at maine med that would at least talk to me about VBA2C, but i don't know who they are. if you're willing to go to portland, you can call the L&D ward and ask a L&D nurse who is most likely to at least talk to you about it. nurses know!!

Yes, you are right but they refused me because I was "too far." They also have a limited amount they can do each month. I'm going to go with a local midwife and do a home birth. It'll be about $2,500 out of my pocket but I think to have someone local and willing to do a VBA2C is worth it. And if there is any problems, I live less than 2 miles from the hospital.
