Dill spice safety?

I know there is some debate as to whether or not dill is safe during pregnancy. From what I can tell it's not safe in medicinal quantities but it's fine to use for cooking? Is this right? My MIL made some dill crackers and they are sitting on the counter STARING at me! Thanks for any help!

Umm I've never ever heard anything regarding dill in pregnancy and have certainly eaten enough of my share in pickles, dips, salmon dishes, etc so I'm going to assume it's okay although I could be totally wrong.

That's the first I have heard this about dill. I have never seen it on any lists of things to avoid, including the ultra paranoid over the top one I got from my OB.

I just googled it and a few places said to avoid it in medicinal quantities. Who knows! I'm not too worried but I like to be safe.

I say, the amount used for flavoring is much less than is what usually meant by medicinal quantities. I would eat the crackers.

The only place I have heard this referred to as bad is in Indian and Chinese medicine, as it is considered a "warm" food and you're not supposed to eat warm food during pregnancy. I would not be concerned in the slightest.

Oh my gosh, I had no idea!  We canned pickles in the fall and I could barely wait to crack a jar open when they had sat long enough!  For some reason the term "medicinal quantities" cracks me up... it gives me an image of someone smoking it, lol!  I would think it would be totally fine in small quantities, as long as you are just eating it! ;)
