USPS API (if you use it, read this!)

If you're using USPS API (real time shipping rates) on your website, check to see if they're working properly.   USPS decided to change the API code over the weekend and didn't tell anyone--it seems to have broken pretty much everyone's ability to get shipping quotes.  On my site USPS shipping options weren't showing up and so domestic orders were limited to flat rate or UPS and international orders couldn't be placed. 

From other forums online it looks like a lot of businesses lost a lot of money this weekend over this.

What a PITA!!!!!  We do free shipping so no hassles there.  I am sorry for you!  Can you see your incomplete orders and contact them?

No way to see incomplete orders with our software because they aren't able to even check out for international orders.  Two things really saved us on this one--the flat rate shipping option which is uber popular anyway and wasn't affected and that international orders are a smaller part of our business.  Thankfully someone in Israel complained Monday morning which led us to investigate.

I feel so bad though for businesses who rely on USPS postal options...

I thought you were switching to the cart I use (3dcart)?  We can see incomplete orders that were abandoned at any point.  Obviously, you need them to have put in some address information to be able to contact them, or if they were a previous customer their cookies identify them.  But they need not have chosen shipping to be in there.  It is an awesome feature b/c we can see if a code is malfunctioning.

We ended up on Magento which I really like but we just got switched over a few weeks ago and I need to install the abandon cart follow up plug in.
