Help me wear my baby in a mei tai!

My favorite carrier with my first DS was the mei tai. I'd love to wear my six-week old in one, but when I put him in froggy-leg he stiffens his legs so he's standing in it and cries. Is he too little to spread his legs to wear him the regular way?

If you tie a strip of fabric so that it cinches the base of the mei tai so it fits him from knee to knee then he could have both legs out (don't have a pic or anything to help visualize that, sorry.. hope it makes sense, maybe someone else can explain it better). You could also try froggying one leg and leaving the other leg out, so he feels less restricted. HTH :)

Do you have a different carrier you can use until he is big enough for the mei tai?

If not try this. You tie the waist on to your body then twist the body of the mei tai having the actual twist fall at the bottom of the body of the mei tai, this might narrow the seat enough that you can fit your baby to the carrier now. Just make sure that the mei tai is tall enough to reach his neck/head for support.

If not this you might see about buying a carrier more suited to a very young baby.

Thank you for the suggestions! I will try doing one or both of these ideas.

I have ring slings, a Moby wrap, and pouch slings, but he hates them all so far. Well, he was okay in the Moby, but *I'm* not a fan of wraps.
