I got down to 210 and 212 for #9 and #10, but when expecting my 10th I gained more, more than I had ever before. I was 256 when I delivered, but I lost all and then some so that now I am a size 12-14, 175 when I conceived my 11th. What you need to do is eat, eat healthy, watch that you don't over do it. I do watch my calories and workout 5 days a week, w/ less intensity than before. There are websites for moms watching what they eat and working out in pregnancy, I belong to one myself, a great motivator.

Great work and please share!!

LOL with ds I gained nearly 100lbs I am only down about 20lbs from my delivery weight of 265 (4 yrs ago).  This time around I am determined to stay within the healthy weight gain recommendation.  I am working out regularly and trying to eat well.  I would love to track down some good support sites out there!!

I agree with most of what PP have said. It does sound like your family has body image issues of their own. I feel very lucky because only a very few people have thus far commented on my weight, but we have yet to make this pregnancy public knowledge, so I'm sure it's coming.

I'm a plus-size mama too and have struggled with my weight for much of my life and have run the range from Sz. 10 to 28 and I'm at 18/20 now). Interestingly enough, from what I've heard, fat stores estrogen so it makes us plus-sized gals a bit more fertile than the skinny minnies of the world (at least that's what my OB-GYN told me when we were trying).

Also, DH made a few comments about my weight and appearance recently, and although he was only agreeing with my complaints and/or getting excited about me being pregnant (it's our first), I just told him that from now until the day I die, the only comment that is EVER appropriate about my appearance is, "You are beautiful and I love you exactly as you are" (unless of course he wants a black eye or a broken nose). Period. ROTFLMAO.gif

Anyway, big hugs to you, mama!! hug.gif Eat good food and don't let yourself get hungry!

There is a mom of four out in internet-land who authors both a website and a blog about pregnancy and obesity.  She makes a point of focusing on size acceptance and being healthy at whatever size you are.  She also puts a lot of emphasis on how the medical community treats women of size when they're pregnant.  She's got such good info on there that as a doula I end up sending clients of all sizes to her sites.  Here they are:

Happy reading!

And here's a beautiful essay about how to treat mamas like us from that site. (It's so funny, because I was just coming here to post that - my midwife has a link to here on her site).
