Making your own shampoo bar?

Thread Starter

I've been no-pooing for a year and a half and I think it doesn't work for me in the winter. My hair gets gross. I've been trying Dr Bronners for a couple weeks, and that doesn't work either. A friend recommended some shampoo bars she buys in the US, but I'm in the UK and don't know what would be good over here.

BUT I think it would be really neat to make my own!

What ingredients and amounts do you need for a good shampoo bar?

Bumping...I'm really interested in this too!

Well I've found out info myself so I'll share it with you!  I'm in the UK, so my websites will be British ones.  It looks kind of expensive to get all the ingredients, but I'm going to do it anyway.  It would be way more expensive to buy shampoo bars like from Chagrin Valley, I think the name is.

Here's the recipe I might use

Thank you so much.  I can't wait to try these!

Let me know how yours turn out and I'll do the same,

I just made my first attempt at shampoo bars about a week ago.

I used:
6.42oz Water
2.42oz lye
5oz castor oil
6oz coconut oil
6oz olive oil

I decided to go with a higher amount of coconut oil because I tend to have oily hair. I can't wait to try them out and see how they work.

I know this is an old thread- but GardenStream, how did your shampoo bar turn out?
