18 month old ready to give up nap?

When did your toddlers decide to stop napping? dd  who is 19 months old cut her first nap out around 12 months and now she seems to be doing it with her last nap. i think she is showing signs that she doesn't need it anymore, for example if she does nap it is between 1-3 hrs and then that night she is awake in the middle of the night for 1-3 hours. She also fights going down for a nap and it used to take five minutes to get her to sleep where now it takes about 45 minutes. She hasn't had a regular nap for about five days now and ends up falling asleep in her highchair for about 25  mins while i make dinner.

She has always been an energetic child and has always slept horribly at night. Do you guys think it's too soon for her to stop napping? If it stops her from waking for hours at night then i am all for the no napping.

What do you ladies think?

My toddler (now 34 months) gave up her nap at 18 months.  It is not common, but if you think she is really done, follow it.  I second guessed myself for awhile (not to mention I was not ready to give up the nap).... but really she was done.  I still put her down for her nap for one hour to play quietly (or not so quietly) and she is fine with that.  Some days, eerily today for example, she sleeps....  most days she does not.  She sleeps a lot at night though 12-14 hours.  I put her down between 6:30 and 7:30.  Hope this helps.

I was wondering about this too.  I also have an 18-month old, and lately she has been fighting taking a nap.  She sleeps around 10 hours a night without waking, and usually takes a nap in the afternoon (no set time).  She is with her aunt during the day, and she is asking for ideas about how to get her to take a nap.  I'm wondering if she's outgrowing them, but on the other hand, she is miss cranky pants when she doesn't take one.

We have a bedtime routine, but have never really had a nap routine or schedule.  Is it too late to try?  How do daycare providers / preschool teachers get kids down for afternoon naps??

I also wanted to add that if your child is falling asleep in the high chair, that says to me maybe she isn't ready to give up the nap....  I feel like if they fall asleep somewhere like that it shows they are T-I-R-E-D, maybe try a different time of the day? My kid is so rock steady in her routine, she naps right after lunch, but I have noticed sometimes she sleeps a bit later than that when she does sleep....
