Well, I didn't get the impression he was a predator.  I thought she was almost 18.  Plus, he said he wanted to marry her.  IDK, bit I thought he was serious.

He might have been serious, but he was 37 and he knew she was 15 -- I don't see how that could translate to not being a predator, even if he believed that his intentions were pure. Legally and morally, that's wrong no matter how you slice it, and he crossed that line. Just because he had a youthful face and didn't seem like a typical skeeve doesn't make it okay to have sex with underage girls.

I loved it.  I loved how each woman found her true self.  Barb as the prophet/priest of their church, Nikki as the caretaker of the home and Marge as a missionary.  But, if this is Marge's 2nd mission, 3 months at a time, what's up with her kids?  I know she's got sister wives to help care for them but, to be gone 6 months out of a year?  I don't get that.

I didn't like who killed Bill - thought that was contrived.  They could have done that part differently.  But, overall, I really loved the resolution.

yes, i was thinking this too.  it said 11 months later, and this was her second mission.  with all the kids' father murdered, you think she would stick closer to home for a while.  perhaps the first mission was closer/shorter. 

i don't really like who killed bill, but i am glad that it wasn't albie.. it would have seemed like the 'dark side' won.   but it does seem a bit random.  i agree that the neighbour had more motive to kill margene than anyone, but i guess he did feel that bill should have kept margene in line?

I read the interview linked above and the writers said that they didn't want Albie to kill Bill because it would seem like the dark side was winning. But on the other hand, I think they figured that Bill dying was the only way it would work out. And that the point of the show was to show that family and love is the most important thing of all. Bill pretty much says this the last time he speaks. I find it interesting that a gay couple wrote about a polygamist family to get the idea across that families come in all shapes and sizes and that love is what's important. 

I totally agree- love the 6 feet under ending. And I didn't realize that a gay couple wrote the show till I watched the series recap- which really makes me love the concept of the show more.
 

ETA... I think it's better that the random crazy guy killed Bill instead of some one with an agenda besides just being plain ol'crazy. He always seems kind of jealous of Bill, didn't he? Maybe I'm recreating that since I've seen the ending.

Anyhoo...I could never get into 6 Feet Under.  So, I don't know about the finale.  I trust y'all's judgment, tho.

I think the teacher was a predator, definitely.  She was 15 and he was 37.  If that's not predator, I don't know what is.  You don't have to do something like that more than once in order to be a predator.  I thought Nikki had lied about how it all ended, though. 

I like how they tied up that storyline with Nikki and Carol Lyn. 

I guess I missed the Ben and Heather update.  I didn't notice a ring on her finger at all.  I didn't really look at her, though.  I will this time (watching it, again, right now. LOL).

I don't see a problem with Margene going on 2 missions within a year.  I didn't like her hair, but 2 missions that last 6 weeks each isn't so bad.  She's still home most of the year and the kids have 2 other mothers to take care of them.  It's better than her feeling trapped at home.  In general, I think we teach women to give up too much in the name of Motherhood. (eta: She's gone for 3 months.  I thought when they first talked about it they said 6 weeks.  So, in 13 months, she's gone for 6 of them.  That is a bit much considering she has a one year old.  I guess she's not nursing. lol! And where did they show her baby?  That was Sarah's baby we saw.  I didn't see any of the original little kids in the final scene.)

Scratch that.  I hated her hair.

That neighbor was very insecure and I think it was in line with the way his character had been written this season for him to shoot Bill.  He was obviously loosing it toward the end. 

One question I must have missed the answer to is: What ever happened to the family moving into the big house together?  I watched all of season 5 again this weekend and didn't see it brought up.

I was wondering that too! I didn't notice it ever being addressed. Wasn't it the grand closing shot of last season? I kept waiting for something to be said about it.

Sadly I know of a real life situation with a neighbor that pretty much went down just like that.  I was only 8 at the time so I wasn't given all the details but it happened to a family in our church.  Neighbor pretty much walked over and shot and killed the guy in his own driveway for no apparent reason other than just being messed up.  Left behind a daughter a bit older than me.
