Help!  I am a SAHM  to a wonderful little 21 month old.  We spend tons of time together, and I try to really provide a lot of time playing with him and reading with him.  He always wants me to be with him, and can be clingy, which I understand and accommodate as much as I can.

Over the past month or so he's started doing something I'm having trouble coping with.  If we're playing or reading a story and anyone comes in and talks to me, he freaks out and screams.  Not crying, but screaming.  It happens for extended family as well as if my husband speaks to me.  And since I'm pretty much always with my son, I do need to sometimes talk to people even if he's there.

So far, my approach has been to say "I know you're sad and I know you want Mama to read to you, but I need to talk to Daddy.  I will read with you again when I'm done."  Then I will pat his back, hold him, or hold his hand and talk to whoever needs me.  This hasn't worked and it's getting worse in that the screaming is just getting louder!

I'm trying to be patient, but it's really getting to me.  Any ideas on what I can do to help him get past this?
