Wanting But Waiting Tribe - 2011 - Page 25

I can be moved off now, because we are finally FINALLY TTC!!!!  We just got married on October 8th and immediately stopped preventing-- so I was disappointed to get AF last week.  But I'm excited and hopeful about the months ahead.  :)

I have always known that I wanted children. My fiance and I talk about it often. We are definitely looking forward to starting a family. We are not in the position to have children, at least not for a few years, but it can be difficult waiting . .

The short version of the story? We both have health-related issues. We are not financially stable. I'm also still completing a (never-ending, part-time) undergraduate degree. We also are in a long distance engagement. We live together for a few months at a time. We will be able to live together (for the long-term) after I graduate in June . . !

I'm much in the same position as you.

I have not always known I wanted children...but after I met my fiancé, something just clicked deep inside of me and ever since I've just known. Just like you I am in a long distance engagement for many of the same reasons. When me and my fiancé met, we were both students in the same city. Once he graduated, he couldn't find a job in that city and so he had to move across the country (thankfully, Sweden is not that big across) while I was left behind to finish up my studies which will be another year and a half.

After that...

I think it would be wise of me to get some work experience under my belt before I turn 30. I've never worked a day in my life (save translating a few documents for the benefit of the European court)  and so that has to be a priority before children. Getting my foot into the job market, just to have something to point at later in life. Especially since I hope to be able to find a work-from-home kind of job so I can stay home with my kids beyond those first months of maternity leave that I'm guaranteed here in Sweden (2 months for me, 2 months for my husband plus another 12 to divide between us...Sweden is great!).

I'm graduating in June 2013. I'm guessing finding a job will take me three months at least...I would work for at least six months once I found that job, to be eligible for reimbursement for lost income during my maternity leave...which means I am looking at March of 2014 at the earliest. It feels so far away!

But good things comes to those who wait, is that not how the saying goes? And well...if my fiancé does get to keep his job, so that his salary can support us and my salary can go straight to savings it isn't a bad thing to have a year's worth of salary put away when a little one comes into the world. Is it?

Then I might just be able to get the pram of my dreams for the little one (a Mondial Duo) without feeling guilty. :)

Ah still waiting but wanting till spring 2012 but today I officially told my boss I will not re-new another two year contract to work in China due to family planning! he he he it feels good to do SOMETHING towards getting on with making a family if I can't actually starting trying yet. Also my partner moves out here to finally live with me (after a whole year of spending maybe three months tops in total together) so again, starting to feel like the ball is starting to roll towards family planning. woot woot!

Just wanted to share that and say hi to everyone!

Hi! Can I join? My name is Nicole and I have 4 kids. Nicholas is 6, Genevieve will be 4 in January, Viviana will be 2 this month and Michaela is 6 months. I CTA, but I found out I was pregnant again in September. We were ver surprised. Unfortunately, the baby didn't make it and I am currently going through a loss. greensad.gif Our original plan was to wait until June/July 2012 to start TTC again. We are going back to that plan. We hope to add 2 more to our family in the future.

I am just updating some good news. We decided to move the wedding ahead to this February!!! We been together for over 10 years (since sophomore year in high school) so it is definitely time. I am excited for the wedding but extremely excited to start trying. I originally put down 2013 and don't move just yet but I hope we can start in the fall of 2012! I don't want wait too much longer, I keep get myself nervous about infertility issues. I am going to be 30 in February and friends younger then me have had lots of fertility issues and it took my mom 5 years and four miscarriages to have me. I am also overweight and I worry about that with a pregnancy so I am trying to loose about 50 pounds by September. I have lost about 5 pounds so far. Good luck everyone, I love reading your stories!!

I'd like to join this thread! I'm 30 and have 2 kids. DS1 is 3 and DS2 is 9 months. I know I should be telling myself I already have a baby, but I have baby fever bad! It seems like a lot of people around me are either pregnant, or just had a newborn, and I'm really excited to have another. (DH is up for whatever.) But, I know we should wait longer. I would rather not get pregnant before DS2 is a year (at least), because I don't want my milk to dry up and have to switch to formula. I'd also like him to have more time being the baby. Plus, the 27 month spacing between DS1 and DS2 seemed to work out well. Basically, I'm super excited to have another, but I know what makes sense is to wait. I guess it's good I still haven't gotten my fertility back, it kinda takes the decision out of my hands. I got my fertility back last time around 15 months, so I'm kind of assuming it will be about the same this time. I guess we'll be reevaluating once I start getting more fertility signs coming back, but as of now we're wanting but waiting :)

Firstly, congrats on the wedding!  joy.gif  That's exciting.  Are you planning something big/elaborate or smaller?  Second of all, congrats on the weight loss.  Are you following some type of plan or just making small adjustments along the way?

As for the fertility issues, do you chart at all?  I enjoyed charting (www.fertilityfriend.com) even when we were trying to avoid (TTA) because it let me know my cycle was regular.  I'm not suggesting that's the only issues one could have, but it definitely helps to know your cycle.

I'm excited!  You can take me off the list, we are moving on to NTNP! We'd been just using withdrawal during my fertile times already, but this week DP decided he is ready to stop preventing at all! We DTD last night without protection, and I ovulate on Wednesday, so who knows! (Hoping to again once or twice at least before then too hehe).  He knows I'm all about trying but said we aren't at the point where we are scheduling sex for fertile times, but if it happens, then it must be time :)

Thanks Mulvah!! We are planning a medium size wedding about 60-75 people! I am watching my portion size and eating healthier, as well as exercising. I saw a nutritionist for awhile so I using the tools she taught without seeing her. I want to be at a healthier weight before TTC but its hard. I am healthy and my recent tests came back good. I would love to start charting, I still on the pill but need to get off soon and I keep hearing things such as it can take up to year to get cycle back. I need to start looking at other birth control option (we are not a fan of condoms). I need to start learning how to chart! Thanks again for your support!

You can borrow the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility from the library.  I purchased it; I'm glad I did, but it is really helpful with charting and learning all about your cycle.  smile.gif

I've heard when your first becomes a toddler, you have this desire for another precious newborn

My first at 27 months now, Ive been wanting for a while :(

unfortunetly, Im still in college and not married, after conceiving with my young love, conceiving out of marriage again is not something I feel comfortable with doing, and so I daydream about a beautiful birth and beautiful names and hold back my envy of other local moms delievering their next after our lasts were in baby group together

luckily Ive had a real keeper for the last 10 months, once the house is in our name and the account at a nice amount, watch out uterus, we have company

good luck to TTC'ers and family planners!

Don't know if I really fit in here or not...

Currently going through a divorce, (almost done!!!!joy.gif)  and already have 3 kids, but I've never had that "I'm done" feeling.  I've always wanted another one, but stbx was done after our #3, his #4 so I resigned myself to being done.  I have been bit by the baby bug pretty bad lately, but I know there is a lot I want to accomplish before trying for another.  Namely I want to build a house, and find someone special.  I've been dating my HS sweetheart who is absolutely wonderful, and he wants more kids but I'm def not to that point with him yet and he knows that and totally understands.  I'm not ready to jump into another relationship that revolves around kids just yet.  I want to do stuff to make a stable life for the ones I already have first.  At the same time I don't want to have a huge gap in between DS and the next possible one.  I'll be 30 in a month and while I know that's not that old, I don't want to wait too long either.

So, if you don't mind me joining the tribe I'd love to be able to come here because not a lot of people really "GET IT" as far as that feeling. redface.gif

Hi ladies! :) My husband and I hope to have two more children. Our youngest is 17 months old and still nursing for most of his calories. I have been pregnant and nursing for nearly 8 years now. My body feels very depleted and I am trying to build my nutritional stores back up through Traditional Foods. We also just bought a house last month which needs major work and we are working on launching our family fiber art business. I am in midwifery school and we began our first year of homeschooling.

I am hoping that we will be ready to start TTC when our baby is around two and a half or 3 years old. Our oldest is nearly 6, so she would theoretically be around 8 when our fourth comes along. All of our children have been born at home, but when our oldest was 2 and 4 respectively. It would be awesome for her to experience the homebirth of a sibling as an older child, so she would have a more powerful memory of it all. She loves pregnancy, birth, babies, nursing, it all fascinates her. My own sister was born at home when I was one month shy of turning ten years old. It still is one of my most favorite and compelling memories. So much, in fact, that I am in midwifery school and plan to be a practicing midwife when my children are older. heartbeat.gif

I will be 30 this next summer and while I chart and have many days of fertile CM, I am concerned that my fertility will start to wane, and we will have trouble conceiving. I suffered through infertility and then miscarriages for many years and it is absolutely one of the most devastating life events I have experienced.

So we'll see! I just got my first PP period and I am ovulating now. It's exciting to be charting again. Funny enough, I don't have baby lust. I would probably freak a bit if I got pregnant anytime soon. I still have a baby that needs a lot of attention.

Thanks for reading my little post and I look forward to journeying along with you women. I may not post a lot, but know that I am reading. Have a beautiful day!treehugger.gif

Well, the wait is over. BFP x4 tonight, still can't quite believe it! Timing isn't great - my mom passed away suddenly, unexpectedly, and without explanation three months ago, so the next few (many) months will be hard.  This baby is a blessing though and we are very excited to welcome a new little one into our family. We are long overdue for some joy.
