the MWs said N has thrush yesterday. And since last night, he has been crying alot and appears to be in a lot of pain while he tries to poop. And it's like every 15-30 minutes. Are there anything I can help him with? I am taking acidophlis (sp) and some homeopathic remedies. ANything I can help with his pain while pooping? The pooping is like normal yellow/brown mustardy poop. it's not like it's hard or mucousy.

Congratulations on your baby. Sorry to hear he has such a hard time pooping. You could rub the belly very gently clockwise if the area isn't still too sensitive because of the umbilical cord. Our daughter had some hard times as well when she was little and it would soothe her when we would hold her while sitting and bouncing on the birth ball. Also pumping the legs gently during diaper changes can help things along. Have you watched your diet. You could help him by maybe changing your diet and avoiding certain vegetables, dairy and meat (only at the very early days and later you can eat normally again). As for the thrush it helps to wash your nipples off after each feeding with a water/vinegar solution and let it air dry. Hope that helps. Congratulations again Mama!

We had great, and quick, success with gentian violet.

Sorry your babe is in pain!  My little guy benefitted from being held in a sitting position when having a bm.
