anyone else chronically, hopelessly disorganized? - Page 2

Yes..baby boy is so cute... : )

I would start with simple things...clean off the frig...make a spot for important paperwork...then you have made a clean spot visually in the crowd. Second, take 10 minutes to walk around and pick up any trash/garbage, recyclables, break down boxes, etc. and dispose of it properly. Third, sweep and clean the floor---always makes me feel better. Little spurts of decluttering and cleaning lead to bigger things.

Another vote for Organizing from the Inside Out.  This book is really helpful for cultivating an organization scheme that fits your life, that builds on habits of organization/clutter management/home traffic that you already have.  I don't have a lot of patience for books about organizing, but this one is really good.

The premise of the book is that your organization scheme should be the one that works for _you_ and your lifestyle, not the one that your mother or your aunt or your English teacher or Mary Poppins thinks is best. Some people are visual organizers, some people need the organization scheme to be really pretty, some people have a "need for abundance" and that needs to be catered to in the organization scheme, and so on.
