Wool longies, soakers pattern

Please tell me where to start. My mom is a knitter and is coming to stay with us for a month. I want to put her skills to good use. Any free or not patterns, sources of yarn and any info how to make wool soakers and longies will be appreciated.!

buy the picky pants pattern and any worsted weight wool (not superwash) yarn and a pair of size 8 needles and she should be good to go.
