Pretty sure we have Pertussis - how to treat?

Mods - wasn't sure if this was to go here or in health & healing, please move if needed.

I'm pretty sure we have Whooping Cough, or at least that I do. I'm 26, had 1 DPT at 2mo and reacted, no DPTs afterwards after that. DD is 4, no vaxs.

I developed a cold that immediately went into my lungs about 3 weeks ago, it was pretty bad with fever and no appetite the to point of losing nearly 15 lbs over the last 3 weeks. I was coughing up stuff a lot so assumed it was bronchitis {I have lung issues} and had a 10 day round of antibiotics which cleared up the colored mucus but now the cough is much worse, to the point I can't catch my breath a lot of the time even with using cough syrup and my asthma inhaler multiple times a day. The doctor I saw considered doing a pertussis test, but didn't due thinking it was bronchitis, same as I did. He did say that if the cough continued after 3 weeks to consider it Pertussis. I have had a few of the whoops with the cough, but mostly just cough. DD has no symptoms thankfully.

I see in the archives it says treat with Vit. C - is there any other options? I can't take anything that boosts my immune system as I have an autoimmune disorder which goes crazy if I do.

Hoping someone can help - I really need to get over this!

Sodium ascorbate is really the best way to treat WC. sucks you can't take it.

I would try homeopathic pertussin then and/or drosera.

I was just reading about Pertussis yesterday on my digital mothering subscription. Great article! There was also a link to www.drfeder.com

She has some natural treatments listed for pertussis if you click on the pertussis articles...
