Going backwards

I'm new to being corn free for/with Nolen (my youngest) and I feel like I keep slipping up.

Please tell me I'm not alone in this feeling? Have you btdt?

I'm used to dealing with DD's allergies (shes 4 1/2) but it seems to be harder to deal with an 18mth old's allergies.

My dd cannot have dairy, corn, tomatoes, watermelon, or cantaloupe. Corn is the most recent allergen removed from her diet and it has been the most difficult. We are still having slip-ups...

ETA: she has been corn free since August, all of the others have been for 2+ years.

Yes. DD2 was corn free for about a year when I started giving her a probiotic. She kept getting folliculitis and I couldn't figure out why. Then with the help of the ladies here, figured out that the probiotics had citric acid in them. Stopped them, and the folliculitis went away (after 2-3 failed rounds of abx). Corn is a hard one. It's hidden under so many different names. And for us, absorbic acid is tolerated, but not citric acid (well, we just got that back 3 weeks ago, after 2.5 years off it). But dextrose, maltodextrin. And it's in basic stuff like baking powder and iodized salt. It's also in some toothpastes, a lot of vitamins/supplements, etc. Do you know all the different names? It's by far the hardest one to avoid, I think.

Yeah, it is a hard allergy to have. I know the names but I don't have a printed off list and I keep eating crap that has it hidden in it irked.gif I'll be getting someone to print the list for me, today.

Thanks for the support. It's nice to know I'm not alone in slipping up. heartbeat.gif
