When did you deliver your twins if you went into labor on your own?

My OB will let me go as long as 40+ weeks as long as the babies are doing well. He is known for delivering twins vaginally all the time, even breech/breech twins.

I'm realize every pg is different, and complications could cause me to deliver early, but I'm trying to see when an average time is for naturally going into labor on your own. My friend went into labor at 34 weeks, but my cousin at 40 weeks.

I'm currently 17w5d and for some reason feel this desire to get every ready asap for the babies and the birth, even though it's months away. I have been having a lot of BH and even painful contractions, and I'm 1cm dilated already, funneled. So I think in the back of my mind I am wondering if bedrest is just around the corner and maybe this is contributing to my sense of urgency to get ready now? But I had my DD singleton homebirth at nearly 40w so maybe I'm just planning for the worst in my mind.

I felt the same way at around your gestation.  Even though I didn't go into labor until 35 weeks (but was on medication to stop early labor for a while before hand)  I was put on bedrest a couple of months before hand and was SUPER grateful that I got everything ready so early on.

The twins were my 3rd pregnancy. 

I was 5 cm dilated at 37 weeks, and I guess it was time - they wanted to come out :)

I went into labor at 41w 3days with my twins, on my own. They were born at home in water.

So basically be ready to go into labor between 34 and 40+ weeks. LOL!

The longer, the better.

My water broke at 37w 5d.  I had contractions from about 8 weeks, but no change in cervix until delivery.  However, it is smart to get everything done asap.  The exhaustion of just surviving every day, without any additional baby prep, during late pregnancy is still on my mind.  That exhaustion hit much earlier and harder than I had anticipated.  I think it was somewhere around 26 weeks or so that I threw my to-do list out the window and just focused on getting thru the day.

i wish one of the times this was asked we would include a poll so that we could really look the numbers, i always wondered this when i was still preggo.

for the record i went in to labor naturally at 35w5d and delivered on 36w exactly

the joke of the day now is always the same thing, 

i had all these plans and things to do...

35 weeks here and no sign of labor. In fact dr checked me last thursday and shook his head as if dissappointed.lol Cervix high high and closed for business. But he doesnt know, I dont start dialated early like most people, i dilate and then thats it, labor is ON......so it could happen but not likely anytime soon. Curious to see how far I will go, and how big these babies are going to be.

My twins were born at home at 39w6d.  I went into labor at 38w 3d... then did a crappy start stop pattern for a week.  We think its because their membrane was so thick that it hindered some of the process.  I walked around at 5-6 cm for over a week.. and the day I went into labor I was 7cm that morning... and had no contractions etc ALL day long (spent hours walking around the store in hopes they would show up).  They were born 1 hour and 20 min after contractions did start that day.

I just read the rest of your thread... I missed part of it. 

At 17w if your already dilated and funelling I'm really surprised your not on bedrest.  I did modified rest with my pregnancy just due to a history of having early cervical changes (and I didn't this time).  However I started fairly regularly contracting at 14 weeks.  We did a combo of modified rest... meds... and vitamins to help keep the belly calm.  Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

Actually I am 20 weeks tomorrow and on what my OB calls "semi-bedrest" or just going by common sense. He said for me not to do any lifting or walking for exercise. Also I am to lie down if I have any contractions at all and I'm to go in if I have more than 4/hr. I have my 20 yr old sister living with us until about 8 weeks after the twins are born. She is helping me with everything, which is soooo nice.

My twins were born at 41W5d.  BUT (always a but!) I had a failed induction at 41 weeks.

When I found out I was pg with twins I "corrected" my dates and made myself one week less pregnant.  I knew the tendency was to encourage twins to go early so I fudged a bit.  In the end I was glad I did.

36 weeks 6 days. that was after a few weeks of drugs to slow/stop labor though.

I wondered the same thing once I found out we were expecting twins (I was 17 weeks when we did the u/s).  I ended up going into labor on my own at 34 weeks.  They were each half an ounce from 5 lb. and we all went home the next day. :)

37 weeks 5 days... I was so focused on keeping them in until 36 weeks that once I got to 37, I was like, OK babies I'm miserable you can come out now LOL
