Wooden toys suck!!

for hardwood floors.

None of the tires/wheels/thingies want to spin because they slip on the wood.  Any inspired mamas have a solution for me?  Carpeting the house is not an option.

An area rug works well but to be honest this was one of the reasons we eventually went to more mainstream options. They didn't do well on tile either.

Area rugs and/or Automoblox.

Guess my floors are too scratched up - we've never had this problem.

Interesting.  We've never had this problem either.  I actually prefer wood floors for a playroom because it's so much easier to do train tracks, roadways, marble game, and building blocks on wood floors.

If it's an issue, I'd get an area rug.  We have this http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20101871, and my boys really like it.

I've never had the issue either and we've had pretty much every flooring option I can think of over the years. I also have the area rug mentioned though and I know for sure our wheels roll over it well, it's also nice for trains and blocks etc because it is a very flat smooth rug.

I'd add those little rubber grippy things that they sell to put on the bottom of socks.  That is, IF you don't have a kid who will pick them off and eat them!

We have three little wooden cars from happysquashtoys on etsy and they are awesome! we have stone tiles and they most certainly roll freely.  I think they're $5 each so not too pricey.  I also have a plan toys car from the thrift store.  It's missing a part so i'm not sure what it originally looked like.. but it's sized for their dollhouse dolls (roughly 9" long and 5" wide).  Rubber tires :) The kids love it.
