Substitute for falafel?

I've had crazy cravings for tatziki/cucumber sauce during my pregnancy. DH doesn't like anything fried and isn't wild about falafel no matter how it's cooked. My mom is awesome, loves to cook Greek food, and has had us over a few times in the last few weeks for falafel and tatziki. We are going over there tonight for the same meal again--yay! But poor Dh. I've been making him a veggie burger to replace the falafel, but since the rest of us are eating homemade falafel, I hate to make him eat something processed from a box!

Falafel/fried foods are pretty much the only thing he won't eat. He's vegetarian, not vegan. Anyone have ideas to replace the falafel? I'd love to try a new recipe! My daughters don't like fried food either (I know, what kind of family is this? Everything tastes good fried!) so kid-friendly recipes are great too, although those kids will eat just about anything else--they cheer when we have brussel sprouts with horseradish and lemon! Weird family...

Thanks!

I think it would be great over spanakopita! I can also see it being quite tasty drizzled over a simple salad of cooked chickpeas, garlic, green onions, lemon juice, olive oil and mint.

Spanokopita is a great suggestion! Last week I made 2 and my girls and I ate one for dinner and one for breakfast the next day. DH only got one piece. thumbsuck.gif  I think I even have all the ingredients. I'm going to make a big batch of hummus, too, since we all like that and it's a great, quick protein boost when we need it.

Thanks!

Vegan dad is a genius. I'm going to make those tonight. Thanks, hello.kiddo!

Shantimama, DH is Irish and makes me eat wayyy too many potatoes. I will make that for him next time, though!
