My 2 yo son is a heavy wetter at night time, so a few mos ago I bought some (bamboo) Panda tushies w/inserts and also some Hemp Babies infant pfs.

We use a dry pail and wash about every other day or ever 2 days. Our wash routine is: HOT= 150 degrees prewash w/nothing, hot heavy cycle wash w/ Charlie's Soap, then another hot prewash.

I use this combo at night, but wake up to ammonia stink and sometimes amonia burn in the am.  My other dipes are just cotton pfs and they never have the ammonia.  The only way I've been able to get rid of the stink is using dawn, bleach, and several hot washes, however within 2 changes they're back to stinky amonia again.  I don't think it's a good idea to continue using the dawn/bleach so frequently, but I'm not sure what to do.

My "latest and greatest" ideas I've had, but not yet tried:

-soaking the diapers w/ baking soda before they go in the diaper pail

-I just bought some nonchlorine bleach- what's your opinion/experience

-washing all the diapers together, then washing just the night time diapers again by themselves to ensure they get clean- uses a lot of water/ more detergent

thanks Mamas!!
