hi! my dd is 27mo right now. i'll be homeschooling her (mind made up before i even conceieved her).

i'm looking into preschool materials right now. has anyone used "hands on homeschooling"? it looks like it might be right for us, but i'm not sure. is it worth the money?

we have "before five in a row" and we have done a few things out of it. but for me i prefer to have like "lesson plans" set out.....i'm not very good and coming up with and organizing my own stuff LOL

hands on homeschooling

hi
we are also going to begin homeschooling and I am trying to get a handle on the cirriculum issue. I can't seem to find specific information and I keep reading that we have to choose a cirriculum. What is hands on homeschooling? I also would like things planned out for me but as I said I can't get a handle on what cirriculums there are.
thanks

Hi,
It is great that you are so excited about homeschooling. Preschool is such a fun time, and there is so much out there it can be overwhelming!

I know what you mean about having it all set up. IN the beginning it is quite helpful, and you may feel confident enough after a while to tailor it to your own needs.

I have not heard anything about Hands on Homeschooling, sorry. It does seem a little expensive for a book of ideas and lesson plans for preschoolers.

Here is a site that has almost the same thing, but for free!
http://www.preschoolbystormie.com/curriculumindex.htm
It covers everything, and you can print out the lesson planning sheet she has and put it all in there yourself.

Many preschool books and websites use themes. PIck a theme that interests your child, and then plug in activities in the different areas(cooking, literature, small motor skills, math, science, etc).
There are preschool websites galore(just search for "preschool themes") and books also with plenty of activities. There is "The GIant Encyclopedia of Theme activities for Children 2 to 5" by Kathy Charner that might be available through your library.

Hope this helps, and have fun!

I'm pming you. I used the 2 year old curriculum and loved it, it is wonderful having it all laid out for you. I am looking to sell it. If you're not interested I'll list it on the trading post. Thanks!
