Can't get rid of ammonia

I have had my bumGenius 3.0 for 17 months. I love them. 2 months ago was had an oversoap problem. After doing everything in the book and falling in love with sensi-clean, they should be fine. But they're not. If he pees even the slightest bit, the ammonia is so. strong.   We are currently cold/cold, sensi-clean hot/cold, warm/cold and cold/cold washing. most times they smell o by then but as soon as he's wet...

I have considered new diapers, new liners, or just finishing with sposies (nearly 19 mo and interested in pottying).

What would you recommend for the ammonia?? Have I ruined them?

You probably need a good strip. It is bacteria (not washing good enough) that produce the ammonia, or it is ammonia crystals that start smelling again when wet (not enough rinsing). For me it worked well to boil just the inserts (I have mostly microfiber and zorb) in a big soup-pot. My FL HE LG did not wash well enough. Others use a bit of glorine to kill bacteria.
