What are you using now, if I might ask?

It does give me pause.  I have an only, and it could end up that I do the fingerplays/songs and she sits and stares as me and wonders why mom has lost her mind. LOL  It isn't like there are other kids here for her to fall in line with. LOL

My oldest child tried to step in and give me a hand, doing the songs and fingerplays and marching around so that the little kids would model her. They still hated it.

We use The Well-Trained Mind. I have always used it for my oldest. With my younger two, who were adopted from orphanages and one of whom has attachment issues, I thought that something more holistic would be beneficial to them. In the end it just caused problems because they resisted so much. After about six months, I switched my middle child, who was then six, into a WTM-style first grade, and she has thrived on it. She's now in 3rd, my youngest is in 1st, and my oldest is in 5th. We all love TWTM, my kids have learned amazing amounts, and the intellectual rigor has kept them hungry for more.
