another preschool vax thread in CA

ok, i've combed the other threads but haven't quite found what i'm looking for. so, in the paperwork for ds's school on the paper that i think is supposed to be yellow where i would just sign the back and be done with it it says that the school will copy the doctors record directly shrug.gif since he has never been vaxed, i don't even know if ds one of these records. so what do i do? where do i find whatever form it is i need to sign?

the other thing is, the school is part of a church. i was thinking that maybe my hands were tied in terms of vax.but, they are licensed through  Community Care, so does that mean that they have to adhere to the laws of the state of CA? i am confused! ugh! my brain hurts! i would really like him to get the opportunity to attend this school, i am a little scared and want to avoid a conflict!

thanks for any help!

All schools in California must allow vaccine exemptions. But wait until your child is officially accepted before letting the school know you are not vaccinating. Because they could pretend they are not accepting him for some other reason.

The California School Immunization Record http://www.cdph.ca.gov/programs/immunize/Documents/pm286b.pdf is actually supposed to be light blue.

Your son's doctor probably won't give you a blank yellow card. You don't need it, anyway. Just sign the back of the blue card and also check boxes A and E on the front for them.

ok thanks :) what do you mean "officially" accepted ? we paid the deposit and for the first month of school and got the paper work... is that what you mean by official?

so, i should just print the for out and sign it accordingly, right?

I meant that you have something in writing that you are accepted, so they can't pretend after they see your exemption that they are not accepting you because the class is already full, etc.

Yes, just print it out and sign. The official form from the health department is printed double sided on light blue paper so if you want to make it look official, you should do that.
