Long story short: Ds was prescribed a medicine by a specialist and Medicaid rejected the claim. I called the HMO and they told me a dr neeed to send in a special form, but they told me it had to be the PCP, not the rx'ing doc. Well, I don't use any of the Medicaid ped's bc none of them take non-vaxers. I have a great person I pay on a fee-for-service basis who doesn't take insurance at all.
Anyway, I was forced to take ds to see this ped today for the 1st time and all went well. Very well, I actually really liked him. He made a comment about something he would ask me the next time he saw ds and I gently reminded him that we had a PCP we loved and likely would not see him again. He asked me why I wouldn't come back and I told him I doubted we'd be welcome bc we are religiously opposed to vax.
Well, that's when it all fell apart. He told me I HAD to vax for tetanus, that even his die-hard non vaxing parents did that one, and I quietly stated that I did not have to. He told me the obligatory scary story about the 6yo with a trach tube he treated last year. I listened patiently and thanked him for his time, apologized for wasting it, and got up to leave. He followed me into the hall yelling that I had 30 days to find a new ped. I smiled nicely and told him I didn't need it bc I already had a great dr I loved. I told him to have a nice weekend, not at all sarcastically, and he responded "Whatever"
So I can only speculate that I will receive my 5th (or is it 6th?) visit from a report made for not vaxing. Oh well, at least I cleaned my house early this morning nd my fridge is still full from the last visit to the warehouse club.
