I'm 37 weeks and having the worst leg pain. Only in my right leg, my whole thigh just aches and changing position or walking doesn't help. Is this sciatic nerve pain? I don't remember anything like this with DD so just wondering if that's what it is?

Terrible leg pain
I have sciatic leg pain due to disc compression. Doctors have always told me that sciatic pain shouldn't be your whole leg but more like a stripe of pain that you can point out. IDK I definately have times when my entire leg hurts all the way to the top of my foot. If I poke the top of my foot I can feel that it is actually numb. I think sciatic pain is pretty common in pregnancy. Hope that helps.

Is your thigh swollen, changed color(paler, slightly blue or purple), does elevating help, is it hot compared to your other thigh? If so, it could be a blood clot in your thigh. In which case, get to the hospital asap and tell them you have a possible phlebtis or deep vein thrombosis.Â
I had the same feeling one day...it almost felt like a pulled muscle, but more of a heavy feeling. I started rubbing the back of my thigh, where it hurt the most... and felt varicose veins through my pants! There at the top of my thigh, in the back, where I can't really even see them. It causes some MAJOR pain sometimes. I did take some homeopathics though, and it's gone away for the most part. OUCH though! Maybe you have some up high?

This. I had DVT about 10 days after delivering my third, it was so severe I have to wonder if I had a clot at the end of the pregnancy.

localized heat, redness swelling? those are big symptoms for a DVT other than the pain. usually a DVT is in the calf rather than the thigh, but i wouldn't assume this isn't a dvt. there is a condition known as compartment syndrome, which affects large muscle groups but it usually occurs after a trauma. it can occur after exertion. the thing is, the pain is pretty intense for that. a PP mentioned color changes, and that is very important esp concerning compartment syndrome as this condition interferes with arterial perfusion.

any memory of doing something strenuous?
or can you trace the pain like a line from the top of your thigh to it's end point?
Â
these are things that you should be thinking about and prepared to answer when you call your doc, but definitely call your doc or midwife.
