Hello I am 10 miles outside of State College and am looking for a homebirth midwife.  Any recommendations?

I would try to get in touch with the Amish Community in the State College Area.  I'm sure they have a midwife(s) that they use.

have you looked on birthpartners.com?

I'm in State College and used a wonderful homebirth midwife this past May.  She is in Millheim.  PM me if you want her info!  :)

I have not yet had my baby, so can't comment on the birth with Sarah, but so far she is fantastic!

Any recommendations on midwives in the State College Area? Has anyone had a homebirth w/ someone they would recommend? Any experiences w/Barbara Miller at Lewistown Hospital?

Hello.

My name is Wilma Aponte, I live in State College, PA.  We want to have a home birth, after our first labor experience at the Mount Nitany Hospital.  It wasn't a good experience but I hope for our next child we are plan to try to have a home birth for our next one.   I triend to find midwives here, but somehow they are not listed anymore with the hospital.  I saw your post in the Homebirth Midwives near State College, PA column and I was wondering if you could share with me the info the midwife that assisted you last year in your labor.

All the best.

Sarah DePasquale and Lisa Beherec are FANTASTIC!!!  They were my midwives for my daughters birth, and I couldn't have asked for better care.  I would use them again in a heartbeat, if only we were a little closer (we moved 8 hours away.   bawling.gif  )  PM me if you still want/need their contact info.

Hi, Becca,

I am not able to send you a private message for some reason (I am new to this). Would you mind sending me the midwives information to my email at lockaraj@hotamil.com. Thanks!

Hi all, what a great discussion as I am wondering the same things.....could anyone, someone please also email me the info on the local midwives, I live in Bellefonte, and am currently going to geisinger greys woods for prenatal care (just found out, Due March 30!!) so the info would be great so we could start out right. I am surprised there isnt a larger market in the area around the university. My email is agk810@hotmail.com. Thanks ladies that would be awesome. And perhaps I may see some of you there!

Hi everyone, I too live in the Bellefonte, Pa area and I just found out I am pregnant. I would like to find a midwife and explore different options outside of a hospital setting. Could someone recommend anyone to me? Are there any good birthing centers around?

Hi everyone, I am new on here. I just moved to the State College, Bellefonte area and I recently found out I am expecting. I would like to try out a midwife since my last hospital experience was less than stellar. If anyone has any recommendations I would surly appreciate it. Right now I can't PM anyone but if you wanted to email me you can -->  kgalea13@gmail.com  Also, does anyone know of any birthing centers, that situation would be ideal.  ^_~  have a great day!

I'm a CNM in State College...30 years of midwifery experience, mostly in Florida...home, hospital, and birth center.  I used to work with the midwives at Mt. Nittany Med. Ctr. until the practice was closed against our wishes.  I am considering offering home birth services in the S.C. area, but know it will be a bit tough since PA law require CNM's to have OB-GYN contracted backup and malpractice insurance.  Haven't quite worked out the logistics yet, but am interested in knowing what the level of interest is.  Just thought I'd let y'all know there is some hope for help that doesn't involve traveling over the mountain!

If anyone would like to contact me, you can email me at <bevjarrett@me.com> , but as I said, it's a work in progress.
