Birth buddies?

I've seen people do this on some of the other DDCs and wondered if anybody was interested?

 

You get partnered with another mama in the DDC who isn't due the same time of the month as you, and you exchange phone numbers, or emails, or whatever. As soon as you're in the beginning stages of labor, you update that person (via text or phone call or whatever you've agreed on) so that she can update the community. I guess later she could update that your baby had arrived, birth weight, whatever. Anyway. It's just because we'll all have our own hands full during our birthing time and it might be nice to have a friend that can speak for you on the boards?

 

What do you guys think? Good idea? Not so good? I was thinking about suggesting this to the community a month or so ago but it feels like now would be a better time to get it organized and going- we're so close to February!

That could be fun. I'm sure most of us won't be thinking about going online first thing after delivery. I am due February 3rd.

Yes count me in, I was on Januarys birth buddy list but nothing ever came of it, so I would love to be paired up with someone on here, be cool if it was another twin mama! My dd is Feb 25th!

Sounds like there's some interest- I'll volunteer to match people up to partners.

 

I'm due 2/11, by the way.

I could do it through e-mail or Facebook, phone calls wouldn't work since the time difference is a bit large.

Im due in the first week of Feb (I say the 6th Doc say the 1st because thats what the wheel says, ultrasound said the 6th though so Im going with the 6th)

No for me.  My sister is due a few weeks before me and we've agreed to update for one another.  So excited!  She only has three weeks or so!

Count me in.  My bff lurks and may post for me (she did last time) but I'd love to have an official match up. 

 

I'm due Feb. 14, but don't expect to deliver until the end of the month.

i love the idea, but i think it would be too complicated with the time difference. maybe my dh will post for me.

mcs- maybe we should be partners haha since Im sure you are closer in time to me than the states. Its been almost 4 years since we moved here and Im still getting use to the fact that Im a day ahead of all my family stateside.

I live it and forget it all the time.. Ive called my poor MIL at 2am and freaked her our before because she thought something was wrong with one of us.. Oops, I was just going to ask for her ziti recipe lol.gif Its ok, she has done the same to us. We joke we need to get watches with the two time zones to them so we can know what time the other person is at. Its going to be great living in the same time zone since we won't have to think about what time it is.

  LOL - It will give me something to do!

 

DD was a little over two weeks early, I'm not sure if i should expect another early one or if I should expect to go late just in spite of that :P

I'd like to but my internet has been a little spotty lately. Lately its been ok, but it was down most of the day yesterday. I think its a problem with our computer. So I'd hate to let everyone down by not being able to update about my BB.

Okay. I think I've got it figured out. I paired the two far-off timezoners together, and there was one late-Feb due date left so I'm pairing StrongMama with my group since my partner has an early DD. Let me know if this makes sense or if anybody wants to switch. Otherwise, please message your partners and decide on how to proceed- whether through Facebook/email, phone/text etc. thumb.gif
