Toddler activites in Tacoma?

Thread Starter
I'm just taking a stab in the dark here to see if anyone has any ideas of any places to go with a toddler in Tacoma. DS is 15 months old and not quite walking yet. I'm having a hard time finding things to do around here. We have yet to go to the Children's museum, so that's something. I know there are various story times at the library (though he would be pretty squirmy). I know there is open gym at the Y but we don't have a membership. The zoo would be great if the weather cooperated!

Any ideas of places to go, things to do in the Tacoma Area?

Thanks!

The Children's Museum puts on a program called Play to Learn every day of the week in various locations in Tacoma and surrounding areas (Gig Harbor, Puyallup, etc).  Its free and lots of fun.  There are always lots of babies, toddlers, and preschoolers there. They supply age appropriate toys and they have crafts and circle time. It can get quite crowded though, so be prepared for that possibility.

If weather permits, my kids love stroller or sling rides on Ruston Way.  Its a beautiful walk and lots to look at for the kids.

The Pierce County library offers specific programs for different age groups.  I take my kids to the Preschool Story Play time.  But it sounds like you guys would really enjoy the Prewalker programs.   Here's a link to their schedule:  http://www.piercecountylibrary.org/files/library/winter-2011-story_001.pdf

If you go to meetup.com, there are a couple of AP playgroups in the area (one in Tacoma and one in Lacey).

Tacoma Waldorf School offers a wonderful Parent-Tot (or Parent-Child) program.  You can get more information from the school's website: www.tacomawaldorf.org

I have heard that the Parent-tot class at Source Yoga is also fun!
