Portland Momma!

Hello to all, hope everyone is having a baby dust full weekend! I found out that I was pregnant earlier this week, and have since started feeling a variety of symptoms: headaches, breast pain, lower back ache, tiredness and morning (aka all day) sickness. Even with all of this, plus school and work, we are thrilled!

We are due around September 10-13 and plan to birth in a local birthing center with a midwife; I would love to have a natural childbirth. I plan to breastfeed and we also plan to co-sleep with our wee one.

My sister is also currently pregnant and is due in May 2011 with a baby girl :)

Congrats to all!

I am guessing you are from Portland, OR, not Portland, ME?

Have fun with your first pregnancy!

Another Portland mama here!  Little one is due around the 12th and we have an eight-month-old at home.  I am feeling more empowered, I know I can do this, I just gave birth last May.  This is much sooner than we planned but I am getting a little more excited for number two every day.

I am meeting with Melissa at Alma this week and plan to meet with another midwife at Andaluz next week. I really enjoyed my consult appointment awhile back with Alma, but want to see other centers so I know what to compare to. Any specific ones you are checking out? Good Luck :)

Does anyone know of a expecting /new mom meet up in the Portland area or where I would find information on one? I feel very alone being pregnant and working from home and feel it would be good to connect with some other new/expecting mommies. Im in the Happy Valley/ Clackamas area but willing to travel.

I don't live in Portland but I have heard good things about an organization called A Mama Like Me, from a friend.  Have you heard of it?

You can check out Millagros in NE for some parenting/meetup stuff- they also have used clothes and cloth diapers :)

(I'm from Portland but moved a year and a half ago)

This is my first post in the Sept DDC. stillheart.gif

I'm a Portland-ish mama, too! We live just west of Portland, actually. How fun that there are several of us!

What were your impressions of Alma and Andaluz?  I'm curious about both.  We are looking at having a home birth but a birthing center is still an option.

I forgot, I wanted to mention that we went with Vivante Midwifery for our last homebirth, and am very much looking forward to using them again! I lovelovelove the midwives at Vivante. Or, at least I did 2 years ago. I assume they are still awesome. :p
