Hey! Single mother of a 6 month old boy living in Los Angeles in need of community =)

I'm new to mothering.com and so far I really like this website.  I'm in desperate need of community.  I'd love to form that community in person, but I appreciate the value of an online forum as well.

A little about me:  I'm a single mother of my 6 month old boy.  I work full time as an attorney for a nonprofit while my mom takes care of my baby at home.  I breastfeed on demand and he seems to really be a boob man because he refuses to eat "solid food."  he's a very happy baby and always has been.  He's got 6 teeth already! and recently is able to sit on his own.  He is very affectionate and we love to experience the world together as much as we can.

I'm pretty much the only mom like me that i know (if that makes any sense), so I'd love, Love, LOVE to meet moms out there that can relate to me at all.  just the fact that you are an AP parent is good for me =)

I look forward to meeting you!

oh, i'm not too far from you at all, in upland.

i looked on meetup.com for some groups that might interest you in your vicinity.

here's one in la verne (your general neck of the woods) for single parents.

i searched for a group for working (outside of the home) parents, but only found this one in corona (that's probably a bit of a schlep for you).  when my daughter was a baby i joined a great meetup group in pasadena (where we were living at the time) for working moms which i really enjoyed.  all the meetings were on the weekends or evenings which worked out really well.  i searched for them, but to no avail.  sorry. greensad.gif

i realize our children aren't anywhere close in age (dd will be four in april and i'm due with #2 in may), but if you ever want to chat or get together, please don't hesitate to contact me. smile.gif

Hi there...

Take advantage of the closeness you have with your son...I breast fed my first one also...But those little teeth can cause some serious discussions if you know what I mean...LOL

Good for you!!! He will let you know when he is ready for other things...Try introducing food little by little...Mine was so picky, sometimes I felt like he would never stop needing me as his only source of nutrition but he finally liked picking up food and playing with it at first then discovered he liked the taste of certain things...There is no time table for breast feeding...Go by what you and your baby need....

Take care!!!
