Why veg/vegan/raw?

No debates please.

I am honestly curious (and poking around the idea of it...) Why?  Other than ethical reasons.  Why would YOU reccommend going vegetarian or vegan or raw?

What are you in it for?

I'm trying to figure it out for myself.  My diet is all over the place (sometimes great, sometimes horrible) and I need something to stick to.  I tried TF but putting all of those animal fats into my diet didn't seem right (and I didn't feel right!).

Also, we're tight on funds and are trying to budget.  What would be best for us money-wise?

We eat an almost entirely organic strict vegetarian diet (we eat honey sometimes, but no eggs, meat or milk). Most of  the reason is concern for the environment and an attempt to eat as low an impact diet as we can. We live in California, where we are fortunate enough to be able to have all of our perishables sourced locally year-round, and we eat a mostly unprocessed, unpackaged diet. While non-factory farmed meat is a lower impact on the environment than conventional factory farms, we don't NEED to eat animal products, so we don't.

We switched to an all-plant diet (except honey) last spring after reading The China Study. Check if your library has it, great book.
