I am washing at 95C with Terra detergent with a 2 hour cold soak and the diapers show staining. Maybe I need to use more detergent? Just curious what detergent you are using and what your wash routine is. My newborn has a bit of diaper rash so I am looking for an unscented detergent and a CD-friendly rash treatment (I was considering using the Weleda arnica powder). I would like to use wool but want to know if you really wash/lanolize after each newborn poop.

My midwife recommended breast milk on diaper rash, and using Weleda Calendula BabyCreme, and not to use a powder, but Weleda Arnica sounds good to me. And I would let baby's bum air out if possible.I don't use CD but cloth wipes and found the sun gets out poo stains great! But yeah, seeing the sun this time of year is rare, lol!

I do a dry pail and wash my diapers every 2 days in 95° temp & extra rinse using our regular detergent - Ariel - and SIL Fleckensalz. I've put mine in the drier. My diapers still show a stain occasionally anyways. I think that's just life.
Lanolizing - for a while I was using the Sonett wool wash and wool Kur products, but I wasn't happy with the lanolizing effects. I bought pure lanolin at amazon.de (http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0010B3B54/ref=oss_product). I'm really happy with that.
As for sore bottoms, we also use the Weleda Babycream. We've also got Mitosyl N Salbe (zink oxide 27%) from our pedi. But I've heard here that zinc messes up your diapers. I don't know. I've never had a problem with it! But it didn't help with one of ds' rashes, and I ended up searching for and finding the polar fleece inserts I used with my daughter, oh, nearly 10 years ago. They help keep your baby's skin relatively dry, but it's a synthetic so I don't like using them regularly. Anyhow, I use the Mitosyl when the Weleda babycream isn't helping. What I also really like and highly recommend is Heilwolle. I used that on my nipples when in the beginning when my nipples were really sore. Sometimes the Heilwolle is enough by itself for his bottom, but mostly I use it together with a cream to protect his bottom from coming into contact with a wet diaper especially if his bottom gets really, erm, raw. So, basically my action plan when ds gets a really bad diaper rash is to use a hair dryer to carefully dry him thoroughly, put a cream on his bottom, pack some Heilwolle onto the sore spots, use a polor fleece insert and change every two hours.
