For the last 3-4 weeks, DS has really upped the nursing. He doesn't usually nurse for long (frequently under 20 seconds), but he gets very upset if I'm not constantly available. He also now wants to nurse from both sides at once, and he's started biting me way more than he used to.
And now for the past week or two he's been constantly attached and fussing at night, too. I'll help him latch on, he'll nurse a few seconds and then fuss because he wants the other boob. I'll roll over and switch sides, and he'll fuss because he doesn't want that side anymore - he wants the one he had before! He'll roll away from me, and then fuss because my nipple isn't an inch from his face. He'll roll back and fuss because now he's a couple inches too high up to reach me comfortably (even though when that happens he's been wriggling down on his own for months!), I'll put blankets over both of us, and he'll fuss because he doesn't like blankets. I'll put blankets just over me, and he'll fuss because there's a barrier between us. IT'S DRIVING ME BUGGO! And I know it's just me being there, because when I've slipped away during a rare moment when he's unlatched, he sleeps peacefully and quietly next to DW for hours! It's gotten to the point where I'm seriously thinking about night-weaning him, even though I had planned on waiting until he was 18 months.
Please, tell me that this is a normal phase at 12 months, and he will grow out of it very, very soon! I don't want to night-wean him, but going to bed makes me want to scream now, and I really need to be able to sleep past 2:30AM.
