How many times in 24 hours does your 7-9 mo nurse? How many times at night? - Page 2

My 8 month old is also having a harder time at night now.

She used to wake every 2 x a night. Now she is up 5 x!

I was just going to post about how hard this is.

Having been through it twice, I know it will pass. Being right in the thick of it sure isnt easy though.

Her top gums are buldging tremendously and those teeth are trying to get out.

This is her what her new nursing times look like:

7am

9:30am

11:30am Her naptime is usually about 1 hr

2-2:30PM

5-5:30 PM She sleeps for about 20-30 minutes here

7:30PM

9:30PM- This is her bedtime

Midnight

1AM

2:30AM

4:30AM

6:30-7:30 AM- and at this time she is restless and needs to be held, nursed and patted on the back constantly.

She is generally happy during the day and never fusses unless she is tired or I leave her eyesight. At night she just cant relax back to sleep like she used to.

She is messing around with solids (exactly messing around).

Little tastes of avocado, pear, apple, banana, and cantelope have made it into her mouth, but that's all.

Most of it, she just massages into her tray.

She is about 22 pounds and quite chubby, so I dont think it has to do with size. I think it's just another thing they go through. Honestly I dont think there is anything that can be done about it. Soothing them in the ways that make them okay are exhausting, but what else is there- KWIM?

mom2happy  thanks for letting me know your LO schedule. doesn't sound like you're getting much in the way of naps either. I'm trying to figure out if GG could be hungry all night when she eats all day-   wondering what we can do differently during the day to help her sleep at night.

I have an almost 8-month old, and here's a typical routine (she has fairly predictable habits, at least in the daytime, which helps oh so so much)

6am-nurse

7am-nurse

9am-nurse to sleep, nap (still swaddled) with pacifier in swing

11am-awake, nurse

1pm-nurse

2pm-nurse to sleep, nap (still swaddled) with pacifier in swing

4pm-awake, nurse

6pm-nurse

8pm-nurse, rock to sleep (still swaddled) with pacifier in crib with blankie and bear

9pm-awake, fuss, pacifier

11pm-awake, fuss, nurse, rock

2am-awake, nurse (usually in bed with us from here until morning, probably unswaddled)

We're doing BLW, too, and the ammount of food that actuallly is swallowed is negligible.

My 9.5 month old still nurses pretty much every 2-3 hours. There have been a couple of times in the past couple of months that she has gone 5-6 hours without nursing (when her dad was watching her, or she was sleeping). She is still waking 2-3 times at night to nurse. About once a week, she will sleep a full 6 hours without nursing,  but it is more rare than not. She seems to be more easily distracted in the daytime, so I think she is making up for it at night.

My DD turns 9 months this week. At BEST, she was up 3 times a night. Now we're about 4-5 times between 11pm and 6:30am (and I WOH full-time... yawn)! She also naps next to nada: 20-30 min stretches 2-3 times a day, plus another in the car if we're lucky. FWIW, she had oral sensitivity, latch, and other feeding issues when she was born; and while I think she's gotten past it with therapy, I'm not convinced she's as great a nurser as her sis was, which is why we're also nursing every 2 hours during the day (well, she takes 3-4 oz from bottles at daycare every 2 hours and then I nurse whenever during the evenings/weekends). We're barely, just barely starting solids; if she gets 2TB/day of purees I'd be surprised.

Basically, I have no advice other than to nap when you can! I'm living on coffee at the office, but I know this is temporary. I enjoy snuggling my baby regardless of the hour and try to remind myself of that during boring conference calls.

My DD (7 mos, well over 20lbs) is EBF other than the odd BLW nibble (like, twice a week). She nurses every 1-3 hours all day and night. Usually hourly from 4AM-8AM when we usually get out of bed because she needs to poop, and from about 5pm till midnight it's hourly as well. 3 hour stretch might work if we are busy or I am out.

We are in bed together 10pm-8am and usually she sleep nurses. She has given me a few stretches of sleep from 12-4 and one till 5 in the last few months.

Nap about 1-2 hours after she's up, then again around noon, then one around 4, and sleep around 7 but she stays in the living room with us till 10 so is up sometimes. Her naps are from 20 mins to 2+ hours if I join her, which I recommend for you!

Oh, and no pocket diaper works well for us overnight, we have BG and HH and have to use 3 large inserts plus either a wool or fleece cover and then I still use a protective pad under her. Due to all the night nursing she usually sleeps on her side and it just leaks right out even if there's enough absorbancy. We only change if there's a poop, and that's for about 12 hours.
