I have a "tummy tub", Â one of those european style tubs... I find it awkward. Â Do you ladies and your babies like bathing this way? Â I want to like it , but i also feel like my DS misses all the kicking that he does in the normal tub...
Thanks

Interesting, I liked mine a lot but, judging by others' responses, maybe it's just because I never knew any better. We don't have a bath tub in our apt, this is our first baby and the tummy tub was the only tub we had.
It was sure awkward in the first weeks. We had to bathe the LO together. While one of us would give support, the other did the actual cleaning. But our LO showed great satisfaction in being in the water. I believed the awkwardness was inherent to the bath of such a wobbly LO in any other set up. ISN'T IT?! .
Little by little, it got better and DH took charge of bath time by himself. Our LO loved it. He definitely was in charge of his own body in that tiny space. Later it got dangerous because he could pull himself to stand (he wasn't very mobile but in that tub he had a lot of control). DH loved it. He sat with the tub between his legs and held it tight because our son would move a lot. It splashed a lot and we also used a cup of clean water on the side to rinse his head. He was reaching his fourth month in there and DH wouldn't transition him to the new tub. Â Then DH got sick for a few days, I took charge of bath time and inaugurated our new normal infant bathtub.

I still believe in the ads for the tummy tub that convinced me that bathing a laid down baby is awkward and takes away any control that the LO could enjoy in the water. But then again, I never tried a conventional tub or bathing together.Â

DS is now 11mo.Â
But first choice will be batheing with us.
